He married Elizabeth Alice Solon on January 3, 1888 in Mason City, Cerro Gordo County, Iowa. She was born January 15, 1870 in Postville, Allamekee County, Iowa, died April 12, 1964 in Des Moines, Polk County, Iowa, and was the daughter of Martin Solon and Ann Corcoran.

Edward and Elizabeth are buried in the St. Ambrose section of Woodland Cemetery in Des Moines, Polk County, Iowa.
